Life Saver Removable Swimming Pool Security Fencing

conforming to Afnor norms NF P 90-306

Life Saver’s pool fence is a removable mesh pool fence designed specifically to provide a barrier around residential swimming pools for toddlers and young children. The fence is installed in sections to provide convenience for easy removal and reinstallation by you, the homeowner.

This tension based system utilizes a series of 15 foot sections of fence with inserts for mounting in non-conducting polypropylene sleeves core drilled 4 inches deep into a concrete deck or other substantial surface, connected in series at the top with nickel plated snap latches with stainless steel springs. What does this mean to you? The fence remains sturdy by tension supplied from reinforced aluminium poles that slip into your deck. Pool fencing can be installed in almost any type of deck. If you have questions, let us know.Life Saver pool fence is constructed with a polyester mesh fabric utilizing a mildew resistant polyvinyl coating that provides years of use in the harshest sunlight. It’s woven with a continuous basket weave that boasts an incredible tensile strength rating of 270 lbs. per inch making it impossible to rip under normal use. The mesh comes in black, beige, white, green, or grey. Bordered on all four sides by a reinforced vinyl material with a rating of 387 lbs., the fence is kept from sagging and the necessary tension is maintained throughout at the top and bottom. The border can be considered the most critical part of the pool fence. All border is Quad Stitched with the strongest marine thread to allow for years of abuse from direct sunlight and the elements. Be sure your pool fence has four stitches in the border.

The finished mesh is securely mounted on aluminium poles and reinforced with aluminium cove moulding strips attached to each pole.

Poles are constructed of QUAD-X core aluminium which guarantees exceptional strength and can come in either black powder coated or silver mill finish (white powder coated and green powder coated by special order). Pole spacing is 36 inches.

Stainless steel screws (14) are utilized for securely attaching the aluminium cove moulding to the poles and mesh.

The poles’ surfaces are finished for handling and to prevent injuries from physical contact, and all poles are capped to provide a neat finished appearance. Standard sections supplied are 15 feet making it easy for you to remove and reinstall the fence. A standard section weighs only 14 lbs. Short sections are available down to 6 feet in length for the 36" spacing models. Smaller sections can be specially ordered if required.

The most recent upgrade to the Life Saver Pool Fence, the Snap Latch, is a break-through in high quality pool fencing. This new latch is nickel-plated with a stainless steel spring, guaranteeing that it will never rust, corrode, tarnish, or deteriorate in any fashion. As with all parts of the Life Saver Pool Fence, the Snap Latch is covered by our Lifetime Warranty. The Snap Latch is the first pool fence latch that can be used by both right and left-handed parents. It's the safest latching system anywhere

For permanent installations or for rented properties we offer our new Perma-latch which is tightened into place using a spanner and screwdriver. It is impossible to open without tools. For rented properties it also makes removal of the fence more of an operation and may help prevent guests taking down the 'inconvenient' fencing exposing you, the owner, to liability and a possible large fine.

Perma-latch    To open the fence with the traditional fold back system of gate, first squeeze the poles together using one hand and open the latch with the other. Then, put one arm over the fence facing the gate opening and place your thumb and forefinger on the top of the pole. Push towards the gate opening in line with the fence and the pole will turn in your hand once it is centered in the sleeve. Push again on the top of the pole and lift out as the pole centers in the sleeve. This can all be done in one step and is much easier than it sounds. You can then open the fence like a door, putting the pole into the convenient lay-back hole. Alternatively you may prefer the security and peace of mind offered by a self-closing, self-latching gate (obligatory under the new laws for rented properties and pools in collective use). Our gate is the strongest on the market and the most reliable. We use specially manufactured support posts for strength and rigidity, ultra reliable Tru-Close® hinges and the Magnalatch® for security.

Since not all requirements are the same, we have developed the option system to let you customize your new fence to meet your specific needs. Life Saver provides you with over 50 different styles of fence to choose from.

Our standard product is Black Safety Mesh, 4 feet (1.2M) high, utilizing Quad X aluminium support poles. This model fence is manufactured with an industry standard of 36 inches between support poles. It is our standard and most popular model of fence. The 36 inch support pole spacing not only adds to the safety and strength of the fence, but also provides more control for fence turns and free form type installations. The 4 foot height is used as the standard for US Consumer Product Safety Commission recommendations for pool safety fencing. It is also the height required by most states and counties that have passed laws requiring pool isolation barriers for child safety.

The AFNOR Standards require a minimum height of 1.1M. Our fence exceeds the standards.

QUAD-X core aluminium poles are  stronger than standard fibre reinforced aluminium poles or simple hollow aluminium and should always be chosen where pole breakage or abuse is highly likely.

The recent changes to French Law mean that all privately owned swimming pools must have a safety device in place that conforms to AFNOR Standards prior to 1st January 2006. All properties that are available to rent or which have a pool for collective use must have a device in place by 1st May 2004. All pools installed after 1st January 2004 must also be protected. Additionally, all rented properties, or properties with a pool in collective use, must also have a self closing and self locking gate as part of their fence, to prevent accidental access to the pool by children below the age of five years.

The CSC (Centre de sécurité des consommateurs) recommends the installation of a pool safety fence or barrier as it is the only passive security device. All the other approved means of security; alarms, rigid safety covers, shelters(abris) need to be actively turned on or physically closed every time the pool is vacated (even for a few minutes) and as such should be seen as supplementary to a physical barrier.

Accidents are unforeseeable events which cannot normally be avoided. A toddler falling into an unprotected home pool and drowning or becoming a near drowning victim is not an "accident."

Our removable safety fences are the strongest and safest on the market using the highest quality components to ensure that you, the customer, have peace of mind. Our fences and self closing gates conform fully to the AFNOR Standard NF P90 306.

Remember if you have a pool you must have a safety device installed before 1st January 2006 or risk a fine of up to €45,000. It is cheaper to fit a barrier and have peace of mind.
